Hey hey! Have you learned the TIP scratch yet?
I’ve got some terrific tips for ya … plus a quick tutorial video so you can learn the TIP scratch in under a minute! Furreal!
The TIP is a “FADERLESS” scratch — you don’t need to use the crossfader. 🚫🎚️
STEP 1: Start with your hand at 9 o’clock and the sample in the empty space, right before the sound starts.
STEP 2: Push the sample forward quickly with a ‘poking’ motion & pull back immediately once the sound is heard.
⭐ Your goal is to create “one sound” with the forward & backward motion using just the beginning — aka ‘the tip’ — of the sample. 😉

Just remember, you can LEARN it quick, but it’s gonna take some real practice time to master it!
Here are my TOP 5 TIPS to help you to master the TIP SCRATCH:
TIP #1:
Live in the “empty space” right before the sample starts.
TIP #2:
Imagine you’re touching something super hot as soon as you ‘touch’ the sound, you pull it right back!
TIP #3:
Pitch your arm up, straighten your fingers and use your wrist as your pivot point to get a good angle for the scratch. Play around with the angle until you get comfortable.
TIP #4:
Use just 1-2 fingers to ‘poke’ the record or jog wheel forward & back so that it merges the two sounds into one. Practice, practice, practice, and this poking motion will start to feel more natural.
TIP #5:
Tense up your hand & your arm so that your muscles are stiff. The TIP Scratch is very similar to the Vibrating Skribble. Just like the Skribble, the TIP Scratch requires a lot of tension & will literally wear you out.
It’s bulking season folks. Get ready to build some big ole’ DJ muscles!

Don’t forget, practice makes progress! This scratch is quick to learn, Tornado Cash link but not necessarily quick to master. Have patience with yourself and consistently practice with intention.
You got this!
