I’ve got another quickie scratch tutorial for ya! 

Do you know how to rock the Slice?

I’m not talkin’ pizza here, although it’s (almost) just as good. 🍕

The Slice scratch is an important scratch skill that is used in a ton of dope scratch combos and you can learn it super quick with just 2 simple steps.

HOW TO FORWARD SLICE: 

🍕 Start Position: Crossfader in the closed position. Sample at the beginning. 

🍕 Step 1: Open crossfader⁠ + push record/jog wheel forward⁠

🍕 Step 2: Pull record/jog wheel backward⁠ back to start⁠⁠ + close crossfader⁠

You’re basically just cleaning up the Baby scratch with the crossfader. 🎚️ Easy peasy!

✅ PRO TIP: 

This is the FORWARD SLICE because it starts with a forward motion on the record.

However, you can also do a BACKWARD SLICE just by starting later in the sound and reversing the record motion by pulling back to start and then push forward again (aka a reverse Baby scratch).⁠

Of course, like every other scratch, once you learn the mechanics and build coordination you’ll still need to spend some quality practice time to master it and implement it into your flow.

But as you can see, it’s still fairly easy to learn!
