"Hacienda on Wheels," is a whirlwind bus tour bringing the Channel One News crew & DJ Shortee to schools in Chicago, St. Louis, Bentonville, Ark., Oklahoma City and Dallas to tape the program that is viewed by about eight million teenagers. Channel One News features stories on breaking news and in-depth issues that affect the world, the nation and specifically, America's teenagers. It's beamed daily by satellite to 12,000 middle, junior and high schools. The anchors include Errol Barnett, Derrick Shore, Alexandra Montoya, Joshua Toole, Lauren Jiggets, Seth Doane, & Janet Choi (also on Real World Seattle & National Geographic). After the show's taping at each school, the students are invited to a huge party outside featuring DJ Shortee and giveaways by the tour's sponsor, Doritos which include chips, mp3 players, glow pens, gift certificates to Best Buy & more. At the end of the party DJ Shortee invites the kids to the turntables and teaches them how to DJ themselves.
